ROOTS...
...They are the only way to defeat the devil. As we saw in December 6th's blog post, Satan was defeated by Jesus Christ speaking the Word to him (Matthew 4:1-11). If the word is rooted in you, when you pray to shed something, or when you rebuke the devil from you, you just use the Word that is ROOTED inside of you, and Satan will FLEE! There is evidence of this in James 4:7! It is also said in Timothy 2:22 to, "flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart." If we flee one direction and evil flees the opposite, then we end up a long way from sin.
The more you have the Word, the closer you come to divine blessings, your life's plan, hearing God speak to you more clearly, and the most important: KNOWING GOD! We can read all day long, but the Word is way more important than anything that man has ever written.
"I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." - Psalm 119:11
God has an awesome, big plan for US, but we have to get to know Him better. He can and will use us for greatness, and I think that is awesome! The only way to know Him is to get into the Word. The more we read, the more we get to know Jesus, who is the most important, the most respected (supposed to be), and the most loving being in our lives. Pick out the person or thing, you love the most, then multiply it by 1,000,000. That is only a small iota of how much God loves us, individually, "saved" or not (with emotions involved). He knows the number of hairs on our heads. That is love, if you ask me. If we strive to see things through His eyes, instead of ours, we are peaceful, and see it with love. I think that is awesome.
"And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered" -Matthew 10:30
This is what the Word does for us:
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash." - Matthew 7:24-27
We need to root our standing with the Word!
